If you are a Monterey County Resident and are sixty (60) years of age or older, we may be able to help you with your legal probelms.

We have no income limit to qualify but depending on our current workload, preference is given to those in greatest social and economic need.

  What does it cost?

We charge no fees; we do, however, gladly accept tax-deductible contributions.

LSS can help with:

	Social Security, SSI and private pension problems
	Health care, Medicare, Medi-Cal & private health insurance problems
	Elder abuse (financial and physical)
	Housing rights and landlord/tenant disputes
	Advanced Health Care Directives and long-term care problems
	Simple wills
	Consumer and debt collection problems
	Grandparent/relative and non-relative guardianships

Why does LSS exist?

The need for legal advocacy on behalf of vulnerable Monterey County seniors continues to grow.

Many problems faced by the elderly are critical to their very existence and can be solved only through legal intervention. Unfortunately, many seniors on fixed incomes cannot afford the services of a private attorney.

LSS is unable to assist with some legal problems...

LSS does not take some cases that private attorneys will, such as

Probate Conservatorships, Estate Probation

	Estate Planning and Living Trusts
	Personal Injury Cases
	Business Problems
	Criminal Cases and Traffic Offenses
